I made some in the Iso forum, and figured we needed some topdown as well.

This is nice for forest cover and underwater cover. Can you make a smaller version with more clumps on it?

DW, Fantastic!

What program and resources did you use to make these? How easy is it to alter the direction and texture maps?

Here's what I'm thinking: Blackened trunks nearer the center, with the trees blown out in a circular pattern.

Would that be possible, or are the render results randomized?

I messed around some more and rendered these last night. These hopefully are what you're looking for Cecil. I did these in Carrara. The first ones with trees made with the Carrara plant object and then I loaded Lisa's Botanicals Creepy Trees. I did these using the surface replicator to randomize them, but I'll do one like you described.

TreeClumps2 zip(~35.4MB)

DW,

Thank-you for the new material! I can certainly pull what I need from there. Even more importantly, thanks for letting me know which tools were used. I have Carrarra and Lisa's trees, so I can make something like this myself! I had not thought of it until I saw your posting, then said to myself "you know, if I had this, and that, and whatits, I could put them together and make a really neat map."

(Happens way too often....)

The creepy tree clumps are also very useful!
